Conor McArdle received a BEng in Electronic Engineering (1.1 Hons.) from Dublin City University in 1997. In the same year he joined Teltec Ireland in DCU as a researcher and PhD candidate working on European Funded Projects (MARINER and CADENUS within the ACTS framework) and international standardisation efforts in the Telecommunications Domain Taskforce of the Object Management Group (OMG) in the areas of applications of and performance of distributed systems to telecommunication services. He completed his PhD thesis on the topics of mathematical optimisation and analytic modelling of telecom services networks in 2004 and then joined the School of Electronic Engineering in DCU as a contract Lecturer, teaching in the areas of Internet, databases, network performance, telecommunications software design and digital logic. He has also worked in Industry on analysis and dimensioning of mission critical telecommunications management systems. In August 2007 he joined the Research Institute for Networks and Communications Engineering (RINCE) at DCU as a Research Fellow and is currently working on research in optical network performance.
