Biography Dr Robert Sadleir completed his undergraduate studies and postgraduate research at Dublin City University (DCU) where he was awarded B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic Engineering. Immediately after completion of his undergraduate degree he was employed as a consultant software developer by the Vision Systems Laboratory (VSL) at DCU. This work culminated in the release of the NeatVision software development environment. During the period 1997 to 1999, he worked in research and development for the 3Com Corporation where he was involved in ASIC design for high speed Ethernet switching products. He returned to the DCU in 1999 where he is currently employed as a lecturer. He carried out his postgraduate research in the area of medical image analysis, specifically CT dataset analysis for automatically detecting colorectal cancer. This work was funded by the Irish Cancer Society (ICS), the Health Research Board (HRB) and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). His other responsibilities at DCU include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and he is still actively involved in the NeatVision project. Dr Sadleir is a member of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the Irish Pattern Recognition and Classification Society (IPRCS) and the Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI). |
